2023 – Forests

Een uiterst visuele, gezinsvriendelijke show met acrobatie en dans. ‘Forests’ stelt de bosbouwpraktijken, onze toenemende houtconsumptie en de verdrijving van de inheemse bevolking door de vernietiging van het regenwoud aan de kaak.
‘Forests’, een team van internationale erfgoedkunstenaars en een wilgenboom van 5 meter met een geweven stam. Performers beklimmen en manipuleren de boom. Tijdens hun acrobatische dans gooien, klauteren en vertrappelen ze elkaar, terwijl touwen elkaar verstrengelen voordat de boom uiteindelijk wordt geveld en een explosie van origamivogels uit het bladerdak verschijnt. ‘Forests’ is een 30 minuten durende performance met een krachtige impact.
Deze voorstelling confronteert het publiek met het systematisch racisme dat aan de basis ligt van het ontstaan van ‘boomloos land’. Deze voorstelling is geschikt voor families.

A highly visual family friendly show using acrobatics and dance to powerfully challenge forestry practices, our ever growing consumption of wood and the displacement of Indigenous people through the destruction of the rainforest. 
A vegan performance team of global heritage artists, Forests comprises a 5m willow tree with a woven trunk.
Performers climb and manipulate the tree, the acrobatic dance sees them throwing, clambering and trampling one another, whilst ropes entangle and bind before the tree is finally felled and an explosion of origami birds erupts form the canopy.
A 30 minute piece that packs a powerful punch. Forests confronts the systemic racism driving the creation of ‘treeless land’, suited to family audiences.
