2019 – Asteroid

Een meteoriet is gevallen in de straat. Het wetenschappelijk team Spaceguard benadert het. Maar onverwachte dingen beginnen te gebeuren. Een show die ons door middel van absurde humor confronteert met hoe we ons verhouden tot het onbekende en culturele verschillen. Een productie geleid door Toti Toronell. Een samenspel tussen poppen en acteurs met de bedoeling een verrassende en transformerende impact te hebben op de publieke ruimte. Met “Asteroid” willen ze nieuwe technieken ontdekken. Tot voorheen werkten ze met maskers en poppen. Nu zijn de poppen belangrijk als reële figuren: de menselijke wezens gaan in interactie met de poppen. Het belangrijkste onderwerp in deze show is hoe we de anderen behandelen, de nieuwkomers en de mensen die verschillen van ons. Ze willen ons een keuze laten maken, zonder dat daarop de aandacht gevestigd wordt.

Over CQP Produccions (SP.): Het theatergezelschap Campi Qui Pugui (CQP) begon in 2008 als resultaat van de passie om theater te maken en te delen. Jordi Pedrós en Cristina Garcia zijn de stichters, de acteurs volgden opleidingen in diverse theatertechnieken in Parijs, Barcelona en Lleida. Na ervaring te hebben opgedaan door het werken met diverse gekende kindertheatergezelschappen besloten ze om hun eigen voorstellingen te maken. Ze willen het publiek dichtbij en ze benaderen de toeschouwers op een plezante manier met visueel attractieve figuren die ons meenemen naar een andere werkelijkheid. In hun spel combineren ze verschillende technieken zoals maskers, poppen, tekst en pantomime. Ze gebruiken humor en visuele middelen die begrijpbaar is door elke leeftijd en elke cultuur en willen het kind dat we allemaal in ons dragen wakker maken. Ze hebben opgetreden in meer dan 15 landen. “Rats” en “Manneken Piss” wonnen de prijs voor de beste straatshow op Fira Titelles de Lleida in 2015 en 2016.

A meteorite has fallen in the street. The scientific team SpaceGuard approach it. But unexpected events start to happen. A show that, through absurd humour, confronts how we relate to the unknown and cultural differences. A production managed by Toti Toronell that combines puppets and actors with the aim of achieving a surprising and transforming impact in a public space. With “Asteroid” we want to explore new techniques. Up until the moment we have been working with masks and puppetry. In this case puppetry will be as important as real characters: human beings will interact with puppets. People will mix with these new characters, the aliens, which just arrived to the Earth. The main topic in the show is the way we treat the others, both newcomers and the ones that are different from us. We want them to make a choice without this being the focus of attention.

About CQP Produccions (SP.):
The theatre company Campi Qui Pugui (CQP) started in 2008, as a result of the passion for creating and sharing theatre. The founders of the company are Jordi Pedrós and Cristina Garcia, actors trained in different theatre techniques in Paris, Barcelona and Lleida. After gaining experience working with different children’s theatre companies with large professional careers, we decided to create our own shows and theatre plays. We want the audience to be close;
we approach them in a funny way, creating visually attractive characters that take us to other realities, combining different techniques such as masks, puppetry, text and pantomime. We are seeking the meeting point amongst all audiences, using humor and visual resources understandable by people from all ages and cultures. We wish to wake up the inner child we all have. We’ve been performing our shows and plays in more than 15 countries around the world. “Rats!” and “Manneken’s Piss” won the Best street show award at Fira Titelles de Lleida in 2015 and 2016.
