2019 – L’Oeil de la Bête

Een carrousel, in het midden van het publiek, toont de foor. De sfeer is kil, de lucht vol rook, de sfeer verlaten. In de schaduw zien we ogen, afgerukte armen, ontplofte ballonnen… tot plots een warm licht en de geur van suikerspin de ruimte vult en een feestelijke indruk creëert. Met zijn drieën komen ze tevoorschijn en verdwijnen ze opnieuw. Een vrouw in twee gesneden, rondvliegende acrobaten, een magische oger, een junkie trapeze artiest, een vliegende man, een gevederde entertainer,… Zoveel verschillende types gepresenteerd door eenzelfde onwaarschijnlijk trio. Elk om beurt beul van dienst, daarna slachtoffer en mededader, maar steeds lachend met zichzelf. Ze missen liefde en lucht. Hun verlangen naar vrijheid doet hun karakter veranderen. Op zoek naar een andere plaats voor zichzelf, een licht aan het einde van de tunnel, … Zonder gebruik van woorden – enkel maar poëzie, ongenaakbaarheid en fantasie – vertellen ze het verhaal van het circus, de bijhorende magie en de flair

Over La Plaine de Joie (FR.): De compagnie La Plaine De Joie werd gevormd in Rijsel in september 2006. Ze is ontstaan uit het verlangen van Tanguy Simonneaux om creaties te maken die een mix zijn van circus en theater, van het visuele en de spraak, van fysieke kracht en de poëzie van het universum. De creaties dienen er toe mensen terug te confronteren met hun kindertijd, het kortstondige, de eenzaamheid en de omgekeerde wereld waarin we leven. Telkens met het doel het publiek te raken met deze gevoelige thema’s. Hoe hij dat doet? Door gebruik te maken van “The German Wheel” en het Cyr Wiel. In de loop der jaren vonden meer (en andere) artiesten hun weg naar de compagnie, waardoor deze uitgroeide. In 2010 verhuisde de compagnie zijn werkterrein richting Rennes. Binnen La Plaine De Joie is het aanbieden van workshops een erg groot deel van de werking. Met het oog op de overdracht van kennis , poogt het team een goeie overdracht op te zetten tussen artiesten en publiek. Hun workshops zijn in essentie circuskunst workshops (German wheel, jongleren,
acrobatie,… ) en hebben als doel de kunst te heruitvinden en te verspreiden. Ze willen de aandacht vestigen op de kunst van het circus en brengen daarbij ook het pad van de professionele kunstenaar onder de aandacht.

A carousel, in the middle of the spectators, shows the fair. The atmosphere is metallic, smoky and deserted. Eyes in the shadow, arms torn off, exploded balloons, … And then bubble of warm light, the smell of cotton candy come in like when a feast happens: The three of them appear and disappear, so the time stops. The woman cut in two, acrobats flying around, the magician ogre, the junk trapeze artist, the flying man, The featherd entertainer, … As many strangs and offbeat acts presented by an unlikely trio. In turn executioners, victims and accomplice the still laugh themselves. They lack air and love. Their desire for freedom goves them a new face. Looking for a diffirent place, a new light at the end of the tunnel, … Without using any words – only using poetry, carelessness and fantasy – the tell the story about the circus, the magic and the fair. About La Plaine de Joie (FR.): The company La Plaine de Joie was formed in Lille in September 2006. The company is born from the desire of Tanguy Simmoneaux to develop shows mixing circus and theater, visual and speech, physical strength and the poetry of the universe. All this to recall the attention to the childhood, the ephemeral, the loneliness and the world upside down, to touch a large number of spectators with it’s sensitive subjects. His object to do this: an act with a German Wheel and Cyr Wheel. After some years other artists we’re torn into the company. In 2010 the company moved to Rennes. The training is an important part of the activity of the company. Sensitive to the transmission of knowledge, the team measures the importance of exchange between artist and public. Their workshops have been invented as circus art workshops (german wheel, juggling, acrobatic, ..) and are implemented and reinvented in the use. Bring the awareness of the circus arts also involves sharing the experience and the story of the professional path.
